STONE has been accredited by the College of American Pathologists

STONE Clinical Laboratories, a leading full-service boutique reference laboratory with facilities in Louisiana and Florida, announced yesterday that the Accreditation  Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to STONE Clinical Laboratories, based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP’s Accreditation Programs.

The facility’s director, Erin N. Vicknair, MD, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. STONE Clinical Laboratories is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

“At Stone Clinical Laboratories, we are continually striving to provide excellent care for our patients and timely and quality results to their healthcare providers.  CAP accreditation is only awarded to laboratories that have met the most stringent and rigorous guidelines in the industry.  Our accreditation by CAP and our continued enrollment in the CAP program will help us continue to improve our practices and keep up to date with the current scope of laboratory medicine, which is ever changing,” said Dr. Vicknair, STONE Clinical Laboratory director.

Christopher Ridgeway, founder and CEO of STONE Clinical Laboratories, upon learning of the laboratory’s accreditation, stated: “CAP accreditation strengthens our opportunities for growth while holding us to the industry’s highest standards of quality, accuracy, and consistency. This accomplishment is a direct result of our employees’ hard work and dedication to STONE.”

The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program.

During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
